A new scam targeting users of the Bizum payment system has emerged, with a Spanish bank warning customers to exercise caution. The scam involves impersonating BBVA, a major Spanish bank, and has reportedly led to an increasing number of victims. Users are being contacted through WhatsApp with messages that appear personal and trustworthy, making it easier for scammers to deceive them. In a related cybersecurity issue, a large-scale ad fraud campaign has been identified, exploiting 331 malicious apps on the Google Play Store, which have collectively amassed over 60 million downloads. These apps employ tactics such as full-screen ads, phishing attacks, and hidden icons to steal user credentials and evade detection. Cybercriminals are also utilizing cheap Android devices to create a massive botnet for various malicious activities, including ad fraud and DDoS attacks.
