The Summerlin South Little League team from Nevada made history by becoming the first team from the state to win the U.S. championship at the 2025 Little League World Series (LLWS) held in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. They secured the U.S. title with an 8-2 victory over Fairfield, Connecticut, before advancing to the LLWS championship game on August 24, 2025. In the final, Summerlin South faced Chinese Taipei, the Asia-Pacific region champion, but were defeated 7-0. This victory marked Chinese Taipei's 18th LLWS championship and their first title since 1996. The Taiwanese team was led by ace pitcher Lin Chin-Tse and dominated the game, scoring five runs in the fifth inning to break open the contest. Following their historic run, Summerlin South returned to Las Vegas where they were celebrated with a parade at Downtown Summerlin on August 27, 2025, and received a warm community welcome including recognition during a Las Vegas Aviators baseball game. The team's performance inspired local youth and garnered wide attention in Nevada and beyond.
