Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham will miss the rest of the 2025 WNBA season after tearing the medial collateral ligament in her right knee during the club’s 99-93 overtime win against the Connecticut Sun on 17 Aug., the team said Tuesday. The 29-year-old is expected to make a full recovery. Cunningham averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 30 games during her first season with Indiana after six years in Phoenix. Her injury deepens a growing back-court crisis for the Fever, who are already without All-Star Caitlin Clark (right groin) and guards Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson, both ruled out earlier this month with season-ending injuries. Indiana, 19-16 and sitting sixth in the league standings, has signed veteran guard Shey Peddy to a seven-day hardship contract to bolster its depleted rotation as it pushes for a playoff spot.
