AST SpaceMobile told the U.S. Federal Communications Commission in a filing dated 28 August that it intends to launch as many as 20 satellites before the end of 2025, including its first full-scale spacecraft, FM1. The plan does not count the five BlueBird Block 1 satellites the company already has in orbit. Reaching a roughly 25-satellite constellation would give the Texas-based company enough coverage to begin intermittently offering direct-to-device cellular service across the United States, advancing a rollout backed by wireless partners such as AT&T. Investor interest picked up following the disclosure. More than 17,000 September 5 2025 $50 call options on AST SpaceMobile changed hands early on Thursday at about $1.35 apiece, an unusually large volume for the stock.
