BIT Mining Limited said it has filed a Form 6-K with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission seeking shareholder approval to change its corporate name to SOLAI Limited and switch its New York Stock Exchange ticker from BTCM to SLAI. The Ohio-based company said the rebrand reflects its strategic shift away from pure cryptocurrency mining toward building blockchain infrastructure on the Solana network. Management has earmarked about $300 million for Solana-related initiatives, including the launch of a validator node and staking of recently purchased SOL tokens. An extraordinary general meeting will be held in Akron, Ohio, on Oct. 9 to vote on the proposal. BIT Mining shares rose roughly 3.5 % in early U.S. trading following the announcement.
