BitMine Immersion Technologies disclosed it has accumulated about 833,137 ether in just 35 days, giving the crypto-miner a position valued at roughly $2.9 billion and vaulting it ahead of SharpLink Gaming as the largest publicly reported corporate holder of the token. The company said average daily trading in its BMNR stock reached $1.6 billion during the buying spree, helping lift the share price more than 300%. Chairman Tom Lee described the campaign as a bid to capture “the alchemy of 5%” of Ethereum’s market value, adding that the trove could be staked to generate additional income. SharpLink has not stood still. Regulatory filings and company statements show the sports-betting technology firm bought 30,755 ETH for $53.46 million on 3 August, added 15,822 ETH for nearly $54 million the next day and purchased a further 83,561 ETH for $264.5 million on 5 August. The fresh buying lifts its treasury to about 521,939 ETH—worth roughly $1.94 billion after outlays of around $1.6 billion—keeping the Minneapolis-based group a close second among corporate ether holders. The two firms’ accumulation is part of a wider surge in large ether transactions this week. Blockchain data show one wallet acquired 39,294 ETH for $143.3 million on 5 August, while another bought 24,294 ETH for $86.2 million a day earlier. Asset-manager BlackRock moved in the opposite direction, selling $375 million in ether on Tuesday. Ether traded near $3,670 late in the session, up about 4% in 24 hours, as heavy corporate and whale activity buoyed sentiment across major cryptocurrencies.
