Institutional investors significantly increased their exposure to Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) during the second quarter of 2025, adding over 57,000 BTC. Nearly every investor category tracked by Bloomberg showed growth in Bitcoin ETF holdings, with investment advisors emerging as the largest holders, owning $17.4 billion worth of Bitcoin ETFs. Prominent institutions such as Harvard and Brevan Howard were among the largest new Bitcoin ETF holders in Q2. Overall, institutional Bitcoin ETF holdings reached $33.6 billion by the end of the quarter, reflecting broad-based confidence across various investor classes.
