The Nasdaq 100 Index underwent a rebalancing that affected the weights of several major companies. Tesla Inc., Meta Platforms Inc., and Broadcom Inc. experienced reduced weights in the index, while Apple Inc., Nvidia Corp., Microsoft Corp., and Alphabet Inc. saw their weights increase. This rebalancing was necessitated by the significant growth of certain companies, particularly due to the technology rally of 2024. The rebalance also included the addition of new members to the index, such as Palantir Technologies Inc. ($PLTR), MicroStrategy Inc. ($MSTR), and Axon Enterprise Inc. ($AXON). Palantir joined the Nasdaq 100 as the 19th largest weighting in the index ($QQQ). The adjustments were made to prevent a few companies from exerting too much influence over the index, adhering to rules that trigger when certain thresholds are met.
