Nvidia, Microsoft, Apple, Alphabet Lead as AI Spending Surpasses Consumer and Hyperscalers Invest $88 Billion

The four largest tech firms—Nvidia, Microsoft, Apple, and Alphabet—are recognized as the biggest companies globally, sparking investor interest in their long-term prospects. Artificial intelligence (AI) investment has surpassed consumer spending in contributing to U.S. GDP growth during the first half of 2025, with data center capital expenditures rapidly increasing. Over the past five years, Meta, Microsoft, and Alphabet have shown substantial capital expenditure growth. In the most recent quarter, the major hyperscale companies collectively invested $88 billion in capital expenditures, with Amazon spending $32 billion, Alphabet $22 billion, and both Microsoft and Meta allocating $17 billion each.
