U.S. banks are cautiously approaching the cryptocurrency sector as they await clearer regulatory guidance before expanding their involvement. The 2022 crypto credit crisis heightened concerns in Washington about potential contagion risks if overleveraged crypto companies impacted the traditional banking system. However, the crypto economy remained largely disconnected from traditional finance during that period. Industry observers suggest that a similar cautious approach may soon be applied to the NASDAQ market as banks and regulators navigate the evolving landscape. Overall, U.S. financial institutions are moving carefully, seeking more definitive approvals from regulators before fully engaging with cryptocurrencies.
