
Wall Street ended February with declines across major indices. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 1.6%, the S&P 500 dropped 1.4%, and the Nasdaq Composite declined 4%. The S&P 500's February performance of -1.42% was below its historical February average of -0.28%. Seven sectors performed better than average, while the staples sector led gains, suggesting a defensive rotation. Technology and consumer discretionary sectors faced notable declines, with the latter experiencing its worst February since 2020. Among individual stocks, Tesla fell 24% in February, while Meta was the only 'Mag 7' company to post gains. Year-to-date, the S&P 500 remains up 1.2%.
