QXO in Talks to Acquire Beacon Roofing Supply for $11 Billion at $124.35 per Share Amid Uber and Lyft Dominance

QXO is in discussions to acquire Beacon Roofing Supply for approximately $11 billion, with a proposed price of $124.35 per share in cash. This follows an earlier bid that Beacon rejected as undervaluing the company. The negotiations have reportedly turned more amicable after QXO increased its offer by 10 cents. Meanwhile, in the ride-hailing sector, Uber and Lyft continue to dominate North America, prompting European rival Bolt to expand its operations into the region. In Toronto, local taxi and ride-hail companies are urging the city council to include them in the 'Buy Local, Buy Canadian' campaign, amid concerns over U.S. tariffs affecting Canadian products.
