Apple is reportedly testing reverse wireless charging for the forthcoming iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, according to a series of industry reports published this week. The feature would let users replenish accessories such as AirPods or an Apple Watch by placing them on the back of the handset, a capability Apple has so far reserved for its MagSafe Battery Pack. Sources familiar with the prototypes say the phones’ Apple logo has been moved lower on the rear chassis to mark the charging coil’s location. The change, together with software support expected in iOS 26, would give the Pro models a new battery-related selling point over the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air that is also due this year. The Pro Max version is additionally tipped to house a 5,500 mAh battery—the largest yet in an iPhone—while both Pro variants are slated to gain an Adaptive Power mode and other camera and performance upgrades driven by Apple’s A19 Pro chip. The entire iPhone 17 lineup is scheduled to be unveiled at Apple Park on Sept. 9.
