Elon Musk's AI startup, xAI, has announced plans to build the world's largest supercomputer in Memphis, Tennessee. Dubbed the 'Gigafactory of Compute,' this facility is expected to be the largest capital investment by a new company in Memphis history, located at the Electrolux facility. The project, which is a multibillion-dollar investment, is anticipated to transform Memphis into a global tech hub, significantly boosting the city's economy. Memphis Senator Brent Taylor and Greater Memphis Chamber CEO Ted Townsend have been instrumental in securing this investment, which could also see xAI receiving tax breaks and other incentives. The supercomputer will enhance xAI's capacity in the race to develop advanced AI-powered tools, including chatbots.
