Google said it will invest an additional $9 billion in Virginia between now and 2026, enlarging its network of data-center and cloud facilities in the state. The plan includes construction of a new data center in Chesterfield County and expansions of existing campuses in Loudoun and Prince William Counties, strengthening the company’s capacity to run artificial-intelligence and cloud-computing workloads. The spending forms part of a broader effort by the Alphabet unit to anchor key technology infrastructure in the mid-Atlantic region while boosting local skills. As a companion to the build-out, Google will extend free access to its AI Pro training plan to all Virginia college students for one year and work with the University of Virginia, Brightpoint Community College and Northern Virginia Community College under its $1 billion nationwide workforce-development program.
