SoftBank has posted a $1.5 billion quarterly profit and is planning to invest $9 billion annually in AI projects. UK chip designer Arm is central to SoftBank's AI growth strategy. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the role of Vision Funds in these AI goals, SoftBank is considering a potential $100 billion AI chip manufacturing venture. SoftBank's outlay for AI investments has more than doubled to $8.9 billion in the past 12 months since Masayoshi Son announced the firm's readiness to go on the 'counteroffensive'.
