Amazon Web Services has signed an agreement with the U.S. General Services Administration to make up to $1 billion in discounts available to federal agencies on cloud infrastructure, modernization programs and training services. The incentives, which run through the end of 2028, include usage credits and other price reductions aimed at lowering the cost of migrating workloads to AWS. The GSA said the arrangement will help speed adoption of artificial-intelligence tools and broader digital transformation across government. The deal follows similar pacts the agency recently reached with Oracle and with OpenAI, the latter giving agencies access to ChatGPT for $1, underscoring a push to consolidate purchasing power and expand access to emerging technologies.
