Cruz-Rodriguez has been deported three times previously and is a confirmed member of the Logan Heights gang. The arrest has drawn attention to sanctuary city policies and sparked criticism from Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, who emphasized that multiple child predator arrests have involved illegal aliens. In a separate operation in North Florida, six individuals were arrested in a child predator sting, including one illegal alien. ICE also reported removing other illegal aliens with criminal backgrounds from the streets, including David Perez-Teofani, charged with aggravated sexual battery of a child under 13 and felony indecent liberties. These actions highlight ongoing federal efforts to address crimes involving illegal immigrants, particularly those targeting children.
