This effort, confirmed by the U.S. State Department, targets a wide range of infractions including overstays, criminal activities, threats to public safety, and support for terrorist organizations. The review represents a significant escalation in immigration enforcement policies under President Trump’s second term, with continuous vetting measures including checks on social media, devices, and criminal records. Since January, over 6,000 student visas have been revoked for violations such as overstays. The administration’s goal is to identify and deport individuals who have committed deportable offenses, marking one of the largest immigration crackdowns in U.S. history. The review includes all visa categories and applies to foreigners currently in the United States as well as those abroad. This move coincides with a reported decline in the immigrant population, with more than 1.4 million migrants having left the country since the start of Trump’s second term.
