DHS Reports Third Month of No Illegal Immigrant Releases Amid 85% Drop in Border Encounters Under Trump Policy

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has reported that for the third consecutive month, no illegal immigrants were released into the United States after being apprehended at the southern border. This marks a continuation of the Trump administration's policy of ending the catch-and-release practice, which previously allowed some migrants to enter the country while awaiting immigration proceedings. Border encounters nationwide have decreased by 85% compared to the same period last year, with Southwest Border apprehensions reaching a record low. Officials attribute these results to strengthened border security measures, including restored deterrence, empowered Border Patrol agents, and ongoing efforts to fortify the border infrastructure. The administration has also highlighted the passage of the "One Big, Beautiful Bill," which supports frontline Border Patrol, Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in maintaining these security gains. Lawmakers and administration representatives have emphasized that these developments reflect the most secure border conditions in American history under President Trump's leadership, with calls to complete the border wall to sustain these improvements.
