Swedish artificial-intelligence startup Lovable has raised $200 million in a Series A round led by venture firm Accel, giving the eight-month-old company a $1.8 billion valuation and the status of Europe’s newest unicorn. The deal is the largest Series A ever recorded in Sweden, according to the companies. Lovable’s “vibe coding” platform lets users describe an idea in plain language and have AI generate the underlying software, a model aimed at expanding app and website creation beyond professional developers. The Stockholm company says it has attracted 2.3 million active users, including 180,000 paying subscribers, and reached annual recurring revenue of about $75 million with a staff of just 45 people. Existing investors 20VC, byFounders, Creandum, Hummingbird and Visionaries Club joined the financing. Chief Executive Officer Anton Osika said the capital will be used to hire engineers, enhance enterprise-grade security features and extend the product’s automated “agent” capabilities. The sizable round underscores intensifying competition in AI-assisted coding, where U.S. rivals Replit and StackBlitz have so far raised smaller sums.
