AminoChain, a decentralized biobank platform, has announced the completion of a $5 million seed funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz's a16z crypto. This marks a16z's first investment in decentralized science (DeSci). The funding round also saw participation from AV and other investors, bringing AminoChain's total funding to $7.8 million. AminoChain aims to connect biobanks and clinical sites with bio-pharma companies through a bio-sample marketplace, enhancing transparency, ownership, and trust in the healthcare system. The platform will also develop a Layer 2 network to improve medical data sharing and privacy. Caspar Barnes and his team are devoted to this mission.
