Catena Labs, a cryptocurrency startup co-founded by Circle co-founder Sean Neville, has emerged from stealth and secured $18 million in seed funding in May 2025. The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz's a16z Crypto, with participation from Coinbase Ventures, CoinFund, Circle Ventures, Pillar VC, and others. Catena Labs aims to build an AI-native financial institution, developing infrastructure designed for AI agents to transact at machine speed. The company addresses the limitations of traditional financial systems, which it says are unprepared for the agent economy. The funding will be used to build a new financial stack for AI agents, leveraging both AI and crypto technologies to create a platform for agentic finance. Separately, Gravitee, a platform focused on API and event management, announced a $60 million Series C funding round led by Sixth Street Growth. Gravitee's total funding now exceeds $125 million. The company reported annual recurring revenue of $22 million and employs around 130 people. Gravitee's platform unifies security and governance across APIs, real-time events, and AI agents, helping companies manage complex digital systems.
