Eigen Labs has launched EigenCloud, an alpha-stage, crypto-native cloud platform that extends blockchain-grade trust guarantees to Web2, Web3 and artificial-intelligence applications. Built on the company’s Ethereum restaking protocol, EigenLayer, the service is designed to let developers cryptographically prove the correctness of off-chain computations and data without relying on centralized intermediaries. The platform combines three core modules—EigenDA for data availability, EigenCompute for general-purpose computing and EigenVerify for dispute resolution—into what the company describes as a verifiable, programmable environment. By offering on-chain attestations for off-chain processes, EigenCloud aims to provide an alternative to traditional cloud services for builders that require transparency and tamper-resistant auditing. To support the rollout, a16z crypto purchased $70 million of EIGEN tokens from the Eigen Foundation in an over-the-counter transaction that includes a lock-up period. The investment deepens the venture firm’s involvement after it led Eigen’s $100 million Series B round in 2024. Including the latest deal, Eigen Labs has raised about $235 million to date.

a concern we’ve heard from users and devs using hosted AI how do you know the model you’re calling is the real one? what if the API gives you a knockoff? a smaller model, quantised downgraded weights, or fine-tuned behavior that wasn’t disclosed? with EigenCloud, you can
