Honeywell Expands Grid Tech, Weighs $10 Billion Quantum Spin-Off Funding

Honeywell International Inc. has acquired the data platform and software technologies of SparkMeter, a specialist in smart-grid solutions. The purchase is aimed at bolstering Honeywell’s portfolio of utility and smart-energy products, expanding the company’s offering to electricity distributors that rely on advanced metering and analytics. Separately, Honeywell and other investors are exploring a new funding round for Quantinuum, the quantum-computing company it helped create in 2021 by combining its own quantum unit with Cambridge Quantum. People familiar with the discussions said the transaction could value Quantinuum at about $10 billion, underscoring growing investor interest in commercial quantum hardware and software.
