Harmonic AI, the Palo Alto-based artificial-intelligence company co-founded by Robinhood Markets Chief Executive Officer Vlad Tenev, has raised $100 million in a Series B round led by venture-capital firm Kleiner Perkins. Paradigm and other existing backers also joined the financing, which gives the three-year-old startup a valuation of roughly $875 million, according to people familiar with the terms. The company is developing what it calls “mathematical superintelligence”—AI systems designed to solve complex quantitative problems. Proceeds from the new funding will be used to expand research teams and accelerate product development, Tenev said in a statement.
