Slingshot AI has raised $40 million in Series A funding to develop the world's first foundation model for psychology, aimed at democratizing access to mental health care. The funding round was led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from SV Angel, Sequel, and notable investors such as NBA players Aaron Gordon and Scottie Barnes. Slingshot's model leverages generative AI to enhance mental health support, addressing the global shortage of therapists. The company is co-founded by Neil Parikh, who previously co-founded Casper, which achieved $500 million in revenue, and Daniel Cahn, an AI researcher. The model focuses on empowering individuals rather than replacing human connections, and its development includes a unique data pipeline and evaluation framework. The team also includes Derrick Hull, formerly of Noom and Talkspace, and other experienced professionals in digital health and behavioral science. Early access to Slingshot's model is available at slingshot.xyz.
