Venture capital firms have raised at least $3.4 billion for opportunity-style funds in 2024, more than double last year's total. However, this is significantly less than the $12.1 billion raised in 2021, which saw 120 opportunity funds hit the market. The fundraising environment remains challenging, with many investors focusing on mega deals of $100 million or more. A substantial amount of capital remains undeployed in seed and Series A rounds, awaiting a resurgence in late-stage investments and IPOs.
From the venture investors I speak to they are pitched a variation of the same ideas multiple times a month. The teams/traction are similar. Software dev moat for consumer has disappeared. SaaS is meh. Many think there just isnโt much value in early stage deals right now https://t.co/w8fTGD7i53

This would (and imo will) get better with more frequent rounds and wider access to capital but expect existing fund managers to throw a fit every time we move further in this direction https://t.co/Uo9LlsxKoP
