Electronic Arts said its long-awaited revival of the Skate franchise will enter early access on 16 September. The free-to-play title—stylised “skate.”—will be available simultaneously on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, and PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store and the EA App, marking the series’ first new instalment since 2010’s Skate 3. Developed by EA’s Vancouver-based studio Full Circle, the game is pitched as a live-service platform set in the open-world city of San Vansterdam. It retains the series’ “Flick-It” control scheme while adding always-online play, cross-platform matchmaking and cross-progression. Up to 150 players can share a server, dropping ramps, rails and other objects into the environment. EA said monetisation will be limited to optional cosmetic items, with no pay-to-win elements.
