Elon Musk, head of xAI, announced the upcoming release of Grok 3.5 and Grok 4 during a livestream where he was playing Path of Exile 2 in hardcore mode. The announcement was made mid-flight, using Starlink to demonstrate its gaming capabilities, with latency hovering around 70ms. Grok 3.5 is expected soon with significant upgrades, while Grok 4 is slated for later in 2025. The livestream turned chaotic as Musk faced relentless trolling and cyberbullying from gamers. Insults targeted his personal life, gaming skills, and his role in the Trump administration. Despite the harassment, Musk continued playing until his character died multiple times, including against the Bloated Miller, before abruptly ending the stream. xAI has launched an API for Grok 3, offering Grok 3 and Grok 3 Mini, both with reasoning capabilities. The pricing for Grok 3 is $3 per million input tokens and $15 per million output tokens, while Grok 3 Mini is $0.30 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens. Faster versions are available at a higher cost, and the API supports a 131k context window.
