Team Cherry has officially announced the release date for Hollow Knight: Silksong, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular metroidvania game Hollow Knight. The game will launch on September 4, 2025, across multiple platforms including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and the upcoming Switch 2. Hollow Knight: Silksong will also be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one. The announcement was made during Gamescom 2025, where a demo showcased the protagonist Hornet battling through a vast new kingdom, featuring 40 legendary bosses. The release has prompted other game developers to delay their launches, with titles such as Demonschool and Baby Steps pushing back their release dates to avoid clashing with Silksong. Additionally, the event highlighted notable cross-platform releases, such as Gears of War Reloaded coming to PlayStation 5 and Helldivers 2 launching on Xbox Series X|S. The excitement surrounding Silksong marks the end of a six-year wait since its initial announcement.
