Creator Yu Suzuki and publisher ININ Games have announced “Shenmue 3 Enhanced,” an overhauled version of the 2019 action-adventure title, during the opening of Gamescom 2025. The release will bring the game to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and, for the first time, a Nintendo platform still to be specified, expanding the sequel’s reach beyond its original PlayStation 4 and PC audience. ININ says the new edition will deliver sharper 4K textures, faster load times, DLSS/FSR upscaling, and denser crowds to make hubs such as the riverside town of Niaowu feel more alive. A toggleable “classic camera” inspired by the series’ first two installments, optional stamina and combat tweaks, streamlined menus and the ability to skip cut-scenes are designed to address long-standing quality-of-life complaints without discarding the original experience. Release timing and price were not disclosed, but owners of the existing PS4 or PC versions will be offered a paid or free upgrade path, details of which will be outlined closer to launch. Additional footage and information are scheduled for Gamescom presentations later this week.
