Wargaming used Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 to outline the next phase of its flagship franchise. The studio confirmed a World of Tanks 2.0 update for release next month that will introduce Tier XI vehicles, a new player-versus-environment campaign and other balance changes aimed at modernising the 14-year-old online tank battler. Separately, the Belarus-founded publisher announced World of Tanks: Heat, a free-to-play spin-off that blends the series’ armoured warfare with hero-shooter mechanics. The 10-versus-10 title lets players pick "agents" and then tailor their tanks with modular weapons, armour and abilities, emphasising faster, class-based skirmishes. Wargaming said Heat will launch simultaneously on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 with full cross-play and cross-progression support. Both projects will follow a "free-to-win" model, with monetisation limited to cosmetic items, battle passes and optional time-saving boosts. The company did not provide a release window for Heat, but said development is focused on ensuring competitive balance across platforms.
