DJI has introduced the Mic 3, its third-generation wireless lavalier microphone system, combining many of the capabilities of the larger Mic 2 with the compact form factor of last year’s Mic Mini. Each transmitter weighs 16 grams and clips magnetically or via a rotating clip, while a redesigned charging case houses two transmitters and a receiver. The system supports up to four transmitters and eight receivers simultaneously and maintains audio over a claimed 400-meter range by automatically hopping between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. New dual adaptive gain control modes suppress sudden volume spikes or balance quieter speech, and users can select one of three voice tone presets. Two-level active noise cancellation, embedded timecode, lossless 48 kHz/24-bit transmission and dual-file internal recording at up to 32-bit float round out the feature set. Battery life is rated at eight hours for each transmitter and 10 hours for the receiver, with the case providing 28 additional hours. The Mic 3 is available now in most markets at 309 euros for a kit with two transmitters, a receiver and charging case, or 199 euros for a single-transmitter package. DJI said the product will not launch immediately in the United States because of "evolving market conditions," though sales through third-party retailers remain possible.
