
Salim Swaleh, the Director of Press in the office of Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi and ex-News anchor, has been arrested on suspicion of aiding fraudsters to con foreigners. The allegations involve renting office space to fraudsters who used falsified identities and name tags to deceive their victims. The fraudsters reportedly defrauded foreigners of Sh5.9 million in a fake tender award to construct two stadia for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon). Swaleh, along with five others, has been arraigned at Milimani court, and detectives are seeking 14 days to wrap up the probe. Swaleh will be held at Capitol Hill for a day as investigations continue. Peter Warutere, Secretary of Strategic Communication at Mudavadi’s office, confirmed the arrest.
