A laboratory focused on producing advanced nuclear fuel is playing a key role in supporting the expanding ambitions for nuclear energy in the United States. This development aligns with efforts to modernize and accelerate nuclear power projects. Kathryn Huff from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign highlighted that nuclear power is well-suited to powering artificial intelligence (AI) applications. In addition, Microsoft has partnered with a U.S. national laboratory to leverage AI technology to expedite the nuclear power permitting process, aiming to streamline regulatory approvals and support the growth of nuclear energy infrastructure.
