Meta Platforms Inc. has expanded the availability of its Horizon Worlds Desktop Editor to the UK and Canada, introducing new generative AI tools that significantly enhance the platform's capabilities. These tools allow developers to create 3D models, textures, and skyboxes, enabling the construction of virtual reality (VR) and mobile worlds in a matter of hours rather than weeks. The new AI features include Mesh Generation for creating 3D objects, Texture Generation for designing surfaces, and Skybox Generation, which offers styles ranging from photorealistic to anime. This expansion builds on the editor's existing capabilities, which previously included AI-generated sound effects, ambient sounds, and TypeScript code, all of which were initially available only in the US. Meta has also launched a $50 million funding program to support developers in 23 countries, including the US, UK, and Canada, where the editor entered early access in February.
