On December 25, 2024, the Argentine government websites, including the official site 'Mi Argentina' and the SUBE card application, were hacked, exposing the personal data of millions of users. The attack was confirmed by the Secretariat of Innovation, Science, and Technology, which attributed the breach to vulnerabilities left by previous administrations and criticized Congress for rejecting investments in cybersecurity. The hackers, identified as 'gov.eth', displayed offensive messages against President Javier Milei, including antisemitic comments and explicit content. The cyberattack left the affected sites down until early December 26, with the Akira ransomware group also claiming responsibility for a separate breach affecting the Diario Río Negro, compromising sensitive employee and customer data.
