Two national groups have initiated a campaign to remove Arizona Supreme Court justices over their ruling on an 1864 abortion ban. Arizona Supreme Court Justice Clint Bolick has publicly criticized his detractors, emphasizing the importance of maintaining an independent judicial system. Bolick argued that while he does not need to remain a Supreme Court justice, Arizona requires the judicial merit selection system that facilitated his appointment. He also wrote why voters should retain him. The campaign against the justices underscores a broader debate on the role and independence of the judiciary in the state.
