The Australian Federal Police (AFP) have seized $6.4 million in cryptocurrency linked to 32-year-old Sydney man, Jay Je Yoon Jung, as part of 'Operation Kraken'. Jung was arrested on September 17 and is the alleged creator of 'Ghost', an encrypted messaging application reportedly used by organized crime syndicates for illicit activities such as drug trafficking and contract killings. The app was described by authorities as 'built solely for the criminal underworld'. Jung allegedly sold modified phones for $2,350 each, plus a six-month subscription to the 'secure' network. Authorities managed to access the cryptocurrency by deciphering the seed phrases of wallets associated with Jung. The operation is part of a global crackdown on encrypted communication networks used by criminal organizations.
