Bruce Lehrmann is considering an appeal against a landmark Federal Court decision that dismissed his defamation case against Network Ten and journalist Lisa Wilkinson, brought on a 'deliberately wicked and calculated basis'. The court had earlier found, on the balance of probabilities, that Lehrmann had raped Brittany Higgins. Lehrmann's potential appeal could also be an attempt to avoid a significant legal bill as the matter returns to Sydney's Federal Court for a highly-anticipated costs hearing. The case has been marked by controversy, including criticism from Federal Court Justice Michael Lee towards Network Ten's legal team for misleading conduct.

The estimated multi-million-dollar figure Network Ten could be compensated for was not aired in court, neither was Mr Lehrmann's financial status, although the idea that he could become "bankrupt" was floated. https://t.co/WTf1pQJ8C0
Network 10 has been criticised by Federal Court Justice Michael Lee for comments made by one of its lawyers in the aftermath of Bruce Lehrmann's defamation case judgment, describing the remarks as "misleading". https://t.co/8E47BV3J4L
