JPMorgan Chase ran a full-day road test of Tesla’s prototype robotaxi fleet in Austin, Texas, and described the self-driving service as “solid” and “safe.” The assessment follows live trials on public streets and marks one of the first detailed evaluations of the vehicle by a major financial institution. In a note to clients, JPMorgan analysts said the commercial outlook for robotaxis will depend on the volume of traffic and safety data Tesla can gather as the service scales. The bank added that a successful deployment could bolster Tesla’s pricing power in its broader vehicle lineup by showcasing the company’s autonomous-driving capabilities.
