Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk told analysts on the company’s earnings call that the carmaker intends to make its autonomous ride-hailing service available to roughly half of the U.S. population by the end of 2025. Musk said the timetable remains subject to securing the necessary regulatory approvals but described the robotaxi rollout as progressing "bigger and faster than any competitor." The company is actively pursuing approvals in the San Francisco Bay Area, Nevada, Arizona and Florida, and is working to extend coverage in California and other states. Tesla’s Full Self-Driving software is already undergoing supervised testing, and the planned expansion would mark the firm’s most ambitious deployment of driverless technology to date.
