Happy 10th birthday, #Ethereum 🎉 Fun fact: Ethereum was almost called something else. Which alternative name would you have picked?
ETHEREUM TARGETS 10,000 TPS AND QUANTUM RESISTANCE WITHIN A DECADE Ethereum is setting its sights on hitting 10,000 transactions per second and achieving full quantum resistance within the next 10 years. The Ethereum Foundation has unveiled a decade-long roadmap dubbed “lean Ethereum,” setting out technical milestones designed to keep the blockchain secure and competitive through 2035. Researcher Justin Drake said the network intends to raise capacity to about 10,000 transactions per second, guarantee 100% uptime and achieve full resistance to future quantum-computing attacks. The plan also calls for embedding zero-knowledge proofs across the protocol and introducing an upgraded virtual machine, EVM 2.0, to boost performance and developer flexibility. The announcement comes a day after Ethereum marked its 10th anniversary, underscoring the project’s push to scale while safeguarding security. Drake described the blueprint as a “personal mission” for the next decade. The foundation has not yet published a detailed implementation timetable or budget, but the goals are expected to guide core-development priorities as Ethereum confronts rising demand and the emerging threat of quantum computing.
