While Ethereum captures mindshare, Taiko captures the technical vision. Based rollups don't extract from Ethereum, we enhance it. True L2 efficiency without compromising the security model that makes Ethereum great again.🌕 https://t.co/QbGxrN0QGt
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and developer Toni Wahrstätter have co-authored Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) 7983, which aims to cap the gas limit per Ethereum transaction at 16.77 million. The proposal is designed to reduce the risk of denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, improve the performance and compatibility of Ethereum's zero-knowledge virtual machine (zkVM), and stabilize gas fee usage. This gas cap could lead to some transactions being rejected if they exceed the new limit, prompting developers to assess their contracts for compliance. The proposal is part of broader efforts to enhance Ethereum's network security and scalability. Separately, Ethereum's gas limit for blocks has been increasing since January 2025, moving from 30 million to 45 million, with plans to unlock 60 million gas and beyond through upcoming upgrades. Additionally, Buterin has emphasized minimalism as a key principle for Layer 2 (L2) solutions, advocating leveraging Ethereum's existing security rather than rebuilding systems from scratch, a view supported by emerging projects like Taiko that focus on enhancing Ethereum's security model efficiently.
