A 50-year-old Hanson man has been arrested and indicted on federal dogfighting charges, marking the first such case in Massachusetts. The arrest, which took place on Friday, followed a yearslong, multi-state investigation involving Maine, Massachusetts, Florida, and New York. During a raid on the man's property, at least 8 dogs, along with drugs, steroids, gear, and materials for dog training and fighting, were seized. Additionally, 13 animals were removed from his home in an earlier police action. The investigation also uncovered the use of Facebook for communication among individuals involved in illegal dogfighting. This case has highlighted the issue of illegal dogfighting and the efforts to combat it.
