Brazil's industrial production declined by 0.5% in May 2025 compared to April, marking the second consecutive monthly decrease, according to data released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The drop in May also represents a 3.3% decrease compared to the same month in 2024. Despite the recent declines, the industrial sector showed a 2.8% growth over the past 12 months. In addition to the industrial sector's contraction, retail sales in Brazil also fell by 0.2% in May compared to April, continuing a two-month downward trend, as reported by IBGE.
