Mercado Bitcoin, a Brazilian digital investment platform, has announced plans to tokenize over $200 million in real-world assets (RWAs) on the XRP Ledger, developed by Ripple. The tokenized assets will include fixed-income and equity instruments, aiming to expand global access to regulated digital assets and boost liquidity, particularly in South America and Europe. This initiative reflects growing institutional adoption of the XRP Ledger for scalable asset representation. Separately, Vertus, a leading Brazilian securitization and fund management firm, has launched a blockchain-based platform for structured credit on the XRP Ledger and an EVM sidechain. Vertus's debut transaction on this platform is valued at BRL 700 million (approximately $130 million). These developments highlight increasing integration of blockchain technology in Brazil's financial services sector, leveraging Ripple's XRP Ledger for asset tokenization and credit management.
