Dataprev, the Brazilian company responsible for storing data of retirees and pensioners, has acknowledged a security breach involving the compromise of 400 internal system passwords. This vulnerability was identified during an inspection conducted by Brazil's Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) between January and August 2023. In addition to the password leak, Dataprev also discovered 60 unauthorized devices connected to its systems. The breach has raised concerns about systemic fraud within the National Institute of Social Security (INSS), highlighting ongoing vulnerabilities in the protection of sensitive personal data.
