Senator Marcos do Val has been subjected to a Federal Police operation and ordered to wear an electronic ankle monitor after traveling to the United States in defiance of a Supreme Federal Court (STF) decision. The STF had imposed precautionary measures restricting his travel, which Marcos do Val's defense denies having violated. Justice Alexandre de Moraes stated that the senator "afronted" the court's ruling by traveling abroad without authorization. Following his return to Brazil, Marcos do Val received special curfew hours to attend Senate sessions. The operation and restrictions have drawn criticism from Senate leaders.
